Hi, I’m Matthew Hable, founder and maker of Son Mat.

 

My journey began with a deep personal connection to Korean fermentation, driven by a simple goal: to capture the essence of 손맛 (son-mat)—the “taste of the hand”—in every bottle.

 

My commitment is rooted in tradition. After years of studying and refining traditional brewing techniques—including training at the prestigious Susubori Academy in Seoul—I am obsessed with honoring the authentic process.

 

This is why Son Mat exists: to hand-brew authentic makgeolli and Korean-inspired beverages that honor tradition while embracing a modern, health-conscious lifestyle.

 

More than just a beverage, Son Mat is my way of sharing Korea’s rich culinary heritage. If you crave a deeper connection to what you consume—something crafted with care, culture, and a human touch—you’ll feel right at home here.
